It was retrieved in 1957 in the west Roman cistern on the Acropolis south slope. The center is pierced and one of the eight spokes as well as part of the wheel rim are missing.

Wheel models were usually dedicated at shrines rather than whole chariots. They could also have been hung on tree-branches within the sanctuaries’ precincts and whirled round as a symbol of fortune changes or were used during magical ceremonies.
